The Force Has Reawakened

Santa Claus is bringing us the best gift of all this season. The force has reawakened just in time for Christmas, and Star Wars fans couldn’t be more jolly. After nearly a decade without a live action film, The Force Awakens is the first installment to a new sequel trilogy produced by Lucasfilm and their new partner, Walt Disney Productions. According to IMDb, this new film introduces new faces to the epic franchise but will include characters that built Star Wars from the beginning. Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford will resume their roles of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo to not only make their long awaited return but to remind the original Star Wars fans of why they love the films. The Force Awakens isn’t only limited to the die hard fans; it’s open to anyone new to the films. Some people reject the idea of watching any of the six films because of the stereotypes surrounding the movies. Eleventh grade Libra student, Carlos Rodriguez, had never seen a Star Wars film before because he thought “it was limited to nerds because that’s what people call you if they find out you like Star Wars.” That’s the most common stereotype, but Carlos challenged it and decided to watch one of the films. After watching one of the movies, Carlos confessed that, “I judged Star Wars before giving it a proper chance. It’s really good, and I think anyone would enjoy it. Don’t underestimate it; you aren’t lame or a nerd if you like Star Wars.” So when Christmas Day comes, don’t forget to squeeze in a trip to the movie theatre to watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It’ll be the best unwrapped gift of all this holiday season. May the force be with you.
