Good Luck Staying Fit

“I’m going to work out during the summer.” This is one of the biggest lies told by students at Libra. Everyone plans to workout and stay fit during their break from school. The reality is that waking up at 11 and watching TV for the rest of the day seems more convenient. Students want to change their fitness habits so bad, but according to a Harvard Study on weight gain during school break, they come back in worse shape than when they left. The investigations stated that “Six of the seven studies reported accelerated summer weight gain for at least a portion of the study population.” This means most people do not go through with their exercise and fitness goals. When asked why this happens, Mr. Jimenez, the cross country coach, said, “[Students] give up on their goals because their routine is broken during school breaks […] they should not stop exercising, just modify their routine in the holidays.” When interviewed about achieving fitness goals, Carlos Sanchez said, “We all have a reason to be fit, so I use the idea of a nice summer body as my motivation to keep going.” No matter what your reason is, here’s how to get started. To all those who wish to get that fit body they desire but love doing nothing, here are some everyday habits to acquaint yourself with. Waking up early to run is a great exercise, but to keep it realistic, let’s start with just walking. Instead of calling an Uber or Lyft, walk to your destination; make this a part of your everyday life. This way, you enjoy what nature has to offer, as you burn a few calories. Next on the list, go party! Yes, party. Dancing all night will guarantee burning more calories than that walk. Last but not least, improve eating habits. Don’t go on a see-food diet where you see food and you eat it. Instead, stop eating that daily bag of Hot Cheetos, candy, or any other unhealthy junk food. Commit to being fit. All of these tips will be a challenge to complete for most, but determination will do the trick. Don’t wish for that summer body, work for it. Have a great time this upcoming break, and good luck staying fit.
