Gladiators Serve the Spartans

The guys Volleyball team defeated Huntington Park Spartans for the second time. They beat the rival school 3:0 at an away game.

The Spartans played with one less player and filled the empty spot with a tennis player. “We didn’t even have enough players, we had to get someone from the tennis team because they weren't clear.” said Jaret Cabrera, Huntington Park Varsity Captain.

In the previous season Marquez won against the rival school, Huntington Park, with a close win of 3:2 (March 12, 2014). “Our Varsity team has new players who are new to volleyball, but we were capable of winning”, said Jean Garcia (#21 Libero) after the defeated the Spartans.

Jose Contreras (#14 JV setter) said, “It was an easy game.” He later added “it felt like practice”. The training that Marvino, volleyball coach, is setting the team up for will lead Marquez volleyball for a successful season. There is no challenge this year for our Gladiators.
