Garfield Bulldogs taken to the Dog Pound Marquez Vs. Garfield

Marquez Water Polo defeated the Garfield Bulldogs at an away game for the second time. Their first win was at the beginning of the season with a score of 12-3. On Friday January 23, our Lady Gladiators crushed the Bulldogs with a final score of 11-3.

"The win was easy," said Azucena Zepeda after the game. The score was drastic and it didn’t take much for our Gladiators to win . The girls water polo team played with one substitute after Mitzi Perez (#11) suffered a concussion and Lesley Contreras (#12) was unable to play due to a medical reason. According to Liliana Campos, who plays left wing, "They played rough ,and the referee wasn't making the correct calls, but we worked through it. Nothing was going to stop us from winning."

Despite the troubles they faced during the game, they came together to win. Captain Azucena Zepeda said, "They have double the size of our team. The numbers were against us, but we weren't intimidated because we practice hard, and we weren't going to let our effort go to waste. We went out there and played to the best of our capabilities and got the result we wanted." The Water Polo team still has a season to complete, but that won't stop these Gladiators from going to playoffs.
