The Marquez soccer team has made a name for themselves after making it to CIF finals, and becoming the team to beat.
The team has never lost a home game since the school began. However, on Friday December 21, the varsity soccer team played against Gahr High School; unfortunately they had a devastating loss of 2-1. The loss against the Gahr Gladiators was not by a lot, but the meaning behind it made many of the players mourn over the winning streak at home.
Although it is devastating, the soccer team has promised not to let it happen again. A few corrections the team has to make in order to strengthen themselves are defensive technique and a few changes in the starting line-up. The coach Gary Filtzanidis said that he believes in his team; he has faith that they will strive and achieve greatness. The Marquez soccer team will not stop until they reach their goal to win CIF and advance to State playoffs.
