Marquez Loses Homecoming

The Marquez varsity football team currently has five wins and three losses. Homecoming is one of the most important games of the year. Our Marquez Gladiators went up against the Contreras High School Cobras on October 24 for the 2014 homecoming game. The homecoming game turned out to be a huge disappointment for many as the gladiators were defeated 31-49. The loss was very hard on the football players because this game meant a lot.
Our team primarily relies on running plays. In a running play, the ball is advanced beyond the line of scrimmage by a player who receives it from behind the line of scrimmage. The player now runs towards the opposite end zone, to try to score for his team.
Despite the loss, the halftime show was exhilarating. The hard work and practice has paid off for our cheerleaders and color guard, as their halftime performances were stupendous.
Hopefully homecoming will be better for the players next year, but most importantly, the school should always be proud of the hard work the players put forth.
