Dozens Injured in Heavy Rain
by Joseph Hernandez
On December 3 and 4 Huntington Park finally experienced rain after a long drought.. Even though the rain benefited California, several residents of Huntington Park were injured during certain parts of the rainfall. Thirty-seven people were checked into local hospitals after being hit by the heavy rain. Broken or fractured bones, bumps, and bruises were the only injuries sustained during the rain, according to the hospitals that treated the injured residents.
The cause of the injuries were unknown until the National Weather Association (NWA) released reports on the heavy rain. The NWA is an association with a purpose in supporting and promoting excellence in operational meteorology and related activities. During the heavy rainfall, NWA scientists collected samples, and made a shocking discovery. The heavy rainfall, compared to rainfall from other periods of rain, had a major difference. The water from heavy rain was heavier than regular rain. It is unknown why the heavy rain weighs more than normal rain, but studies are being done to find the cause of the heavy rain. The NWA gave the public warnings if their area would receive heavy rainfall. “If you anticipate heavy rainfall, bring helmets to protect your head and try to stay of the rain as much as possible.” The helmet is vital to protecting yourself from injury caused by heavy rain, so give your relatives helmets for the holidays.
