Huntington Park not actually a park?

by Joseph Hernandez

Officials from the California Department of Parks and Recreations recently surveyed local parks around Los Angeles County and made a shocking discovery. The City of Huntington Park is not actually a park. Department executives held a meeting regarding the current status of Huntington Park with city officials on Monday.

Huntington Park Mayor Rosa Perez released a statement after the meeting, not revealing much information about the issue of the city’s future. “After a long meeting with Department officials and Los Angeles County officials, the future of Huntington Park is unknown.”

Lisa Mangat, Acting Director of California Department of Parks and Recreation, clearly stated what will happen to Huntington Park. “Sadly, since the city is not actually a park, Huntington Park will have to be demolished so it can be renovated into a public park for Los Angeles County.” The future is bleak for Huntington Park residents. Residents will have until January 26th, 2015 to move out of Huntington Park or face several fines, and possibly even jail time.
